Alan Mason NDT. F.Inst.G. Dip.Hort. M.I. Hort. is one of the most experienced and best qualified garden designers and consultants in Europe. He is in much demand as a trainer, mentor and guest speaker.
The business began in 1987 when Alan, a founder member of The Professional Gardener's Guild had just completed nine very successful years as Gardens Manager at Harewood House in Yorkshire. For 15 years Alan then designed gardens and presented TV series from around Europe, including "Le Manoir" and the long running "Gardens without Borders".
Creating the gardens at Le Manoir du Hilguy for Holiday Property Bond and at Le Manoir, Port de Roche in Brittany, brought Alan Mason Garden Design International success.
The garden restoration at Harlaxton Manor saw a move to Lincolnshire where our association with the Downtown Garden Centre then established Alan as the first choice garden designer for gardens of any size in Lincolnshire, Rutland and the East Midlands. Today, most of our work is with designing and creating gardens within 50 miles of home, but we enjoy both national and international projects.
French links continue, particularly in Brittany and Normandy, which have a similar climate and problems to our own. We are delighted to be currently developing a beautiful riverside garden near Nantes and a small, town garden at La Rochelle.
The first step towards creating your garden is a two hour consultation at your home. (see "services") We offer "design only", to "complete garden creation" for gardens of any size and a wide range of budgets.
Alan Mason NDT. F.Inst.G. Dip.Hort.
What you say about us.
Mr and Mrs Boler. Chapel-en-le-Frith. Derbyshire.
"What a lucky day it was for us when we visited Kerry (a friend whose garden had been designed and created by us) and saw her garden. We couldn't believe our luck when you agreed to take on our job.
Roger and I are absolutely delighted with our garden and can't believe the impact it has had on our lives. We spend far less time watching television because we just sit in the conservatory watching all the magnificent colours, not to mention all the birds that we now see every day.
I remember when I sent you a text the first morning after you did the main garden to tell you that it was "like magic". You replied that "it will be". How right you are, every day just gets better and better.
You have an exceptional talent which, combined with years of experience, enables you to create a little bit of magic wherever you go. We feel privileged to have been able to benefit from that talent.
Another bonus was in meeting you and enjoying your company. We wish you well for your future ventures and would like to thank you for our wonderful garden. We can't tell you how much pleasure it gives us"
With love and best wishes
Roger and Lesley.
What you say about us.
Mr Jacques Daniel. Nantes. France.
"My garden project was very important to me and so I engaged five designers and asked each of them to create a scheme to excite me. None of them did.
When I visited the garden at Port de Roche I discovered a garden that did excite me and found that it was designed by Alan Mason, an Englishman.
Alan, you then came to my garden and discussed my requirements with me and my family. We enjoyed this experience greatly. We then travelled to England to look at your garden and others that you had created.
The gardens were superb and your clients all very happy. This we found very reassuring. We came back home to France knowing that we had discovered a garden designer who could create something special for us.
We were proved right and now have a garden that we love and will continue to develop over the next few years with you. We have already recommended you to our friends"
Many, many thanks and very best wishes.
Jacques and Gaëlle.
