Alan Mason NDT. F.Inst.G. Dip.Hort. M.I. Hort. is one of the most experienced and best qualified garden designers and consultants in Europe.
The business began in 1987 when Alan, a founder member of The Professional Gardener's Guild had just completed nine very successful years as Gardens Manager at Harewood House in Yorkshire. For 15 years Alan then designed gardens and presented TV series from around Europe, including "Le Manoir" and the long running "Gardens without Borders".
Creating the gardens at Le Manoir du Hilguy for Holiday Property Bond and at Le Manoir, Port de Roche in Brittany, brought Alan Mason Garden Design International success.
The garden restoration at Harlaxton Manor saw a move to Lincolnshire where our association with the Downtown Garden Centre then established Alan as the first choice garden designer for gardens of any size in Lincolnshire, Rutland and the East Midlands. Today, most of our work is designing and creating gardens within 50 miles of home, but we enjoy both national and international projects.
French links continue, particularly in Brittany and Normandy, which have a similar climate and problems to our own. We are delighted to be currently developing a beautiful riverside garden near Nantes and a small, town garden at La Rochelle.
The first step towards creating your garden is a two hour consultation at your home. (see "services") We offer "design only", to "complete garden creation" for gardens of any size and a wide range of budgets.
Alan also acts as a judge of the show gardens at the prestigious Sandringham Flower Show and is a garden design lecturer for The Royal Horticultural Society.
Many "garden designers" offer their services. Few, if any have Alan's experience, knowledge, flair and expertise. Fewer still are able to work as cost effectively as we do. La restauration en France du Manoir de Hilguy pour le compte de ‘Holiday Property Bond ‘ et celle du Manoir de Port de Roche qui fut retransmise à la télévision dans l’émission nommée ‘Le Manoir’, sans oublier tous les reportages télévisés sur les plus beaux jardins d’Europe et en particulier ceux de la région de Menton et Monaco, ont apporté à Alan une reconnaissance internationale.
La création de jardins en France est très importante pour Alan qui réalise notamment en ce moment un magnifique jardin à Nantes sur les bords d’une rivière et un autre de taille plus petite dans le centre ville de La Rochelle.
